The team conducted a film trends analysis project for Dr. Rini Mehta at UIUC. First, we analyzed the subtitles of Top50 box office sale movies in 2019 to explore word frequency, sentiment analysis, and determine whether there is a trend regarding the movie’s topic and genre in the film industry today. We also pay attention to geographic location to see how popular those countries or states are in films. Aware of how roles contributes to the cultural expression of movie by years, we also focused on words choices and the genre of movies for different genders from the Cornell Film Festival movies.
